Could it be possible that maybe the oil is leaking from somewhere?
You pretty much answered your own question with the heat issue..
The hotter the motor , the more that the oil is going to "dissapate"..

..well since your crank doesnt bath in the oil pan, your block, more than likely, has oil squirters to cool the undersides of the pistons! Your pistons have a number of rings, some compression, some oil! If either type of rings has gone bad, oil can enter the compression chamber, and since its composed of hydrocarbons, will combust! If thats the case youll get smoking on acceleration! If the valve seals are bad, it will smoke on decelleration!
Either way, how much does it burn? 1/2 qt., 1/3, 1/4??? Also, your overheating problem is more than likely linked to your cooling system! But, if your motor runs hot, constantly, than you may burn some more oil!
Also, oil doesnt disappate, thats absurd!
Have a compression check and leakdown test done! Tell us what happens!
Just to tell you though, my 99 prelude, burns 3/4 of a qt of Mobil 1 10w-30 every 3k miles, as does my friends 2000 type r! So, unless its more than a 1 qt. every 500 miles, I wouldnt worry!
Good luck...
