Default How do I remove cam shafts on an LS?

Ya never done this before. Remove the valve cover, and then looked down and tapped the motor and both shafts moved. There are 8 bent valves in the head and just want to remove the cam shafts out of there. Do I have to remove the valve springs first by loosing them up? Ive got no idea because Ive never done it before and never had the need.

Thanks

I used a hammer to bash off the retainers and it came out. The head is garbage. I only have the motor for the throttle body and the block anyways. Thanks though for the suggestion...

you dont need to remove the valve springs to remove the camshafts . just remove the cam caps .first loose tension on ur timing belt remove it from the cam gears . fAIRLY simple

so how do u know u have bent valves?

Because I can wiggle them with my fingers. Also I was told that they were screwed. I got the whole motor for $50. It has a good bottom end, TPS and Map are fine, throttle body is fine, block is fine, only the head and a piston are done. And the piston might be fine, but have to check it out to see.
