how do i fix my shifter??
hey guys, i'm new to honda-tech and the scene of fixing up my civic. i just bought my first car which was a 94 4dr dx. There are some small problems with it that i'm hoping are easy to fix. I was told that it was a short shifter but after buying the car and taking apart the console i discovered that its not an actual short shifter they just cut the ****, and now for some reason or another the shifter leans to the left. its not that big of a deal but shifting from 3rd to 4th sometimes is tricky if i'm not paying attention. when i wanna go into 4th it will go straight to 2nd if i dont pull to the right when shifting.......how can i fix this????
Get the car on a lift (if you have access to one) or put it on jackstands and get underneath it. Directly under where the shifter would be inside the cabin you should be able to see it coming thru the floorboard, the exhaust being in the way might make it tricky to see. There is a rubber bushing that has two bolts in it that actually holds the shifter stick, check to make sure its not missing a bolt or ripped/torn. This bushing will be towards the top of the shifter stick, above where the shift linkage bolts to the lever.
