How to check if a virgin p28 is working properly?
I think I just purchased a lemon... The person I sold it to tried to plug it into his d16z6 motor, but the motor's idling at 1.5, with occasional spiking, and a CEL.
What options do I have to check if it's not fubared? I'd have to hunt down the person I bought it from, which I'm not 100% sure will be possible.
OKAY, we figured it out, it was his car. The ecu was reading just fine. We tested his car with another fresh p28 and it gave off the same code.

virgin P28 that idles at 1500 with spiking and CEL is a problem.
It may not be completely f'ked but it's obviously not plug and play material.
take some detailed pics of the insides of it and post them (or send them to me @ relic1@gmail.com) it should be easy to tell if there are problems.

I'm trying to get that information from a friend. It's been years since I've had an EF, so I had to research a bit to find out how you pull a code on those.

on the right side of the car by the ecu; lower right side bottom of dash.
you gonna see 2 connectors together, one 2 and one 3 prong.
jump the 2 prong connector, the cel should flash with the code

Good news, the CEL came on as code 9, which means the ECU is at least reading something correctly.
Bad news, code 9 is the cylinder sensor.
My friend will have the car checked with another ECU, just to double check.
At this point, I'll wait for him to get the results.
