Default hondata s200 interface box

So in theory the blue box for the s200 is only a interface box. so again in theory shouldnt u be able to disconnect that from the ecu or do u need to have it plugged in all the time. i disconnected it and the car would not rev above 3k which means usually a map problem, but again what i cant understand is why the interface box would store any kind of settings effecting the chip, unless the chip was never burnt correctly is all i can think of. so out of all this rambling i just wanna know is their something wrong with this picture, or do u need to have the interface box always connected.

You need to have the blue box connected, always. It's one of the reasons I've been wanting to upgrade to the s300.
