Honda Engine in 2003 Lotus !?!?!?!
You are wrong. they come with a Rover K series engine. The stock Elise does indeed have 120 but this model is a speacial version which produces 200 and is mated to a quaife sequential gearbox. I do not see the point of swapping out the exige engine since I feel it makes better power than the K20. Even with 260 from the f20 It does'nt seem to be much faster. With the stock Elise like was tested that is much different. I witnessesd a Honda powered exige at California Speedway and it was indeed rediculously fast.
a setup like this is pretty common here.. There are about 4 that I can think of right off the top of my head. The company that started doing the swap for my area needed help with the wiring harness conversion, so I helped lay a few out for them. All in all it's a pretty fun car to drive and work on.
does anyone remember the weight of the yellow lotus that went heads up against the cobra? i believe it was sumwhere form 1600-1900 lbs.? anyone?

since you know 4 owners, tell them to get their asses down to the Utah SCCA events and tear everyone a new anus... i'm tired of seeing a C4 vette smote everyone.
Ok, I will have a chat with the ones that SCCA and see if we can't arrange a litte treck to SLC. I know they usually go to the Pocatello meet.
The car in the photo is a Lotus Elise with a JDM engine (I forget which one). I believe the photo was taken at the L.A. Auto Show. While I was there, I talked to the guy that owns the shop that did the installation.
I believe that it was Sun "International" that was doing the B18C installations and saying that they could get them registered in the USA. It's questionable that any were really "legalized" due to items like bumper requirements. In other words, it wasn't due to the usage of the Honda engine.
The photo is of the "early" style.
I think that the weight is something like 1600 pounds.
In talking to the Lotus reps at the show, they are planning on importing the new style, but they wouldn't say what engine it would have. The current car in europe has a Rover engine and it isn't "federalized". The word on the grape vine is that it is going to be a Toyota.
It may be informative to know that Lotus did the original design work for the Toyota MR2 and it was going to be built by Lotus. They decided to not do the project and sold it to Toyota.
