Default honda civic overheating

Hey so I have a 89 Honda civic dx hatch, 1.5L with an overheating problem and the heater has stopped working. ive replaced the thermostat, and the water pump, ive flushed out my radiator and its still overheating relatively fast. theres no white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe to indicate that is a blown head gasket but im still not sure, any ideas on what it could be?

did you bleed the cooling system? is the fan rotating in the right direction? the fact that you say the heater stopped working tells me you are low on coolant.

try bleeding the coolant system like midwest said but my friend had the d15 and same problems as you and it was blown head gasket i would try that after all its a couple of bolts and gaskets rock auto sells a gasket set(the head gasket and up) for like 60 + shipping make sure all the blots are torqued to the right specs and you got all new gaskets if worst case

Heater not blowing is either a huge air bubble in system, clogged heater core,or a restriction in the coolant passages.

Id say air pocket

overheating and no heat coming out of the heater is usually from bad waterpump or theres air trapped in your system

after you are sure that you burped the system & know that the water is flowing (confirming a good pump)...

it can be also a bad t-stat from the box... bypass it by removing it temporarily

how's the condition of the rad? i know i had to replace mines 2x already due to the area i'm at (good thing i have a lifetime warranty on that radiator)

Check all coolant hoes for pin hole leaks.

Air pockets and faulty T-stats are common.
