Honda Civic Lx 1998 Battery problems
So this is going to be a long post, but I am at my wits end with trying to figure out what is wrong with this freakin car! Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!
I have a honda civic lx 1998 which I keep having problems with the car holding charge. Earlier this year we started having problems with the car starting when it was cold out. In the morning if we did not start the car before we left, it would die while driving 5 minutes into the drive, every time, we would then have to let it sit for 5 minutes and it would start up no problem. This went on all winter then suddenly it would not hold charge so we cleaned off the corrosion, checked the connections, and finally had the battery and altanator checked. It turned out that the battery was not holding charge, so replaced battery, everything started working again. Fast forward 6 months and as soon as it started getting cold again it started doing it again! We did all the same things again and even changed out the filters, nothing wrong with the battery and nothing wrong with the altanator. This was not that big of a deal, just had to make sure we started the car with enough time for it to die and sit for 5 minutes so we could start it again. Well last week my husband left the lights on for 45 minutes and the battery drained, he got a jump car started up no problem. Well ever since then it will not hold charge, we have to get a jump. We drove it around last night for an hour and a halfto make sure the battery was fully charged. This morning my husband took my daughter to school and the car started right up. He came back home to get ready for work, went to leave and it was dead again! We jumped the car and once again it started with no problems immediately. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be and any suggestions on how to fix it?
