Just wondering guys i currently am running 10.5:1 compression pistons in my all motor ls/vtec and am going to go higher in compression cause i want more ponies!....im wondering my head is milled .10 thousandths so im not sure how much of a diff that makes in raising the compression, i would imagine not much...im currently putting down 194whp and want more and i know that if i bumped my compression to say 11.5:1 or even 12.5:1 i could crack 200whp and thats before adding my 2.5" exhaust and JDM header...let me know what you guys think!
thanks

bumping your compression to 12.5 you should definately have over 200whp easy. also if you want to run on the street i have a couple friends with b20vtecs and running 92 oct gas at 12 degrees of timing and no detonation just as long as your setup is tuned pretty good.
Thats what i figured now the thing is i was going to use JDM ITR pistons in my teg but seeing how i have Eagle rods in my car not going to work cause they need the JDM ITR rods to go with them so ill have to go with the JE 11.5:1 compression pistons.

what kind of headwork do you have done to put down 194 whp with 10.5:1 CR?
Thanks,

for every .010" milled, your dynamic compression should go up approximately .334 to 1. Anyways, what kind of mods do you have to be putting down 194hp to the wheels with the 10.5:1 compression?
I've got a mild port and polish and a 3 angle valve job.

My mods are pretty heavy, here's what i got.....
b16 head ported/polished, 3 angle valve job
ITR i/m
Hondata inatke gasket
Aem cold air intake
Aem cam gears
Aem fuel press. regulator and rail
310cc injectors
Holley fuel pump
SRP 10.5:1 compression pistons
Eagle rods
Skunk 2 stage 2 cams
Skunk 2 springs/retainers
Airmass header
Thermal exhaust
Z10 crank girdle
Honadata stage 2
thats my setup and it put down 194whp at 133 ft. lbs. tq.....i have yet to change to a 2.5" collected header which is coming soon and a 2.5" exhaust which is also on it's way.

Looks almost identical to mine, except im running 12.5:1 and a gutted GSR intake mani and HondaSaver cams.

So you must have over 200whp already with the 2 whole points of compression over his.Looks almost identical to mine, except im running 12.5:1 and a gutted GSR intake mani and HondaSaver cams.

Wonder what your HP is at?...ive heard a lot about these HONDASAVER cams wondering what so great about them?...how i it running 12.5:1 comp pistons?...what octane are you using?....and your pistons and rods are of what make?
thanks

.020 over 12.5:1 CR JE pistons, Eagle Rods, balanced. Im sending my head to Rocket on Monday. I should get it back in about 3 weeks. Ill get it tuned and post the numbers. Rocket is confident in over 200 whp and around 145 ft/lbs of torque. Around a 9500 rpm redline too (or til whenever it stops making power).
I run pump 94 octane gas and havent had any problems. It;s running rich, but no pinging yet.
-Nick-
Tuning will be the key. Ill be using a Hondata S200 unit.

So you've balanaced your bottom end?...or just pistons and rods?....see the thing is i have an ls/vtec with my head milled .10 thousandths so getting 12.5:1 may put me a little higher no?.....i think that going 11.5:1 would be better just to be safe...what do you think?

yeah, since you have milled .010, it will raise you CR about .3 or so. Get 11.5:1 JE slugs and you'll actually be yielding close to 11.8:1. Should be a noticeable different.
The entire bottom end is balanced... Crank, rods, pistons, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and harmonic dampener.
How high you go depends on what fuel you have at your disposal, and the tuning you are willing to do. I plan on spending about 4-5 hours on a dyno about 6 hours away tuning my engine. Hondata S200 unit will be the key.

Sounds good then cause i currently am running 10.5:1 whcih means im probably at say 10.8:1 so a full point over will give me a decent gain, from what ive heard it's about 5whp for every point of compression gone up this could be erong though?
For fuel i can get 94 octane no problem so ill be alright there.
Your setup sounds like it will be killer good luck and thanks for all your feedback.

What are you using in terms of tuning? You should be set with 94 octane. I run that now untuned and dont have any trouble. Ive heard 5% power increase for each point, especially with aggressive cams. Let us know how it turns out if you get new slugs.

Im using Hondata stage 2 and my local dyno shop here in town so im alright there.
I will for sure keep you posted on what happens with the new pistons.
Just wondering what kind of header you running?...im looking and ready to buy a new header for my setup but having a ahrd time...im leaning towards the SMSP header which ive heard is amazing...what do you think?

If you've got the money, HyTech or SMSP are definately the way to go. I didnt have the cash so i went with a custom drag header from www/an-r.com. It has 2" primaries and a 2.5" collecter. 4-1 design.
It gives the exhaust a nice sound, beats the pants off of a JDM 4-1 and only costs $480 shipped. Cant beat that. Looks cool too

interesting ive never seen anything like that....the price is definately good and it does look neat!.....why would they do that to there header though?...i assume it's made this way for a reason?

Longer primaries for high end power. It produces a very smooth power curve as well. Not nearly as spikey as the JDM 4-1. PM Snail EG on this board. He works for/owns An-r.com

Another question for you...just wondering what type of exhaust are you running?....im looking to get a 2.5" in replacement of my 2 1/4" from thermal but im having a hard time finding one for my '92 integra...i think i might have to go custom?

Yup, chances are you will have to go custom... I did. Carsound cat, 22" magnaflow resonator and a 4"x9" magnaflow muffler. All of it is 2.5" in diameter. It is kind of loud, but in a deep growly way, not shrilly and gay. It's nice because the exhaust is perfectly free flowing (save the high flow cat) from the collecter back. I give it
Low key from the rear too.
