Just turbo'd the civic and the oil pressure gauge is reading 80lbs which is way too high. Any thoughts?

It was at 80psi on startup and after about 4 min it still really hadn't change. It's mobil1 5w30 and was about 70 degrees outside and yes, it was 80psi at idle and no, not over 3000rpm

let the engine idle for a good 15min or so....or even drive it around. as long as it does not keep climbing up passed 90+ psi i would say it's normal.

most good working honda oil pumps will see 70-80psi (depending on the accuarcy of the gauge) on a cold start with a fast idle of 1500-1700rpm. it should drop down to 15-20psi at idle (750rpm) after about 10min of driving.

Yes, that's to high for the turbo.

You need to put a restricter in the oil feed line. I like to use a shut off valve, set it about 1/4 open and remove the handle. You can buy one at the local hardware store and some fittings and plumb it in.

Here; This has a pressure sending unit in line too. The copper line is a ice maker line for a freezer.

you would say thats too high even after only being on for 3 min, just changing the oil, not having it on for a week, and also having to force oil through all the new lines? just asking, didnt want that to sound mean

Turbo's only like to see about 30-40psi oil pressure

What's the normal oil pressure reading for a mostly stock D16Y8 engine??
would it be around 50 psi all the time? no matter cold or not engine?

My psi was around 50 when i was driving around. Now its closer to 80 all the time, not really sure what it is.

sounds like a restriction what was installed besides the turbo did you install a oil plate for the supply or ?

i would test the pressure with a oil pressure gauge something is not jiving.maybe a faulty oil pressure gauge in the car ?
