High idle problem!!!!!
I need help guys. I have a jdm sir tb and intake manifold. it's mated to usdm b17 head.
When I turn my car on, the idle goes straight to 2.5~3k rpm and doesn't bother coming down. So I'm at a stop light and the car's revving at about 2.5k rpm. Now, people tell me that it's either Fast Idle Valve(FIV), Idle Air Control Valve(IACV), or vacuum leak. I know how do check for vacuum leak, but how do I check if the valves are malfunctiong? and if they are is there a way to fix it, and not just replace it?

Your idle goes up & down or stay at that rpm? That thing (FIV) under the the throttle body. Take it off & open it. Inside there is a white plastic screw. It might be lose.
If your idle is "jumping" up and down quite considerably, then I would suspect a vacuum leak. Before fiddling with the Fast Idle Thermo or the IACV, I would check and make sure your throttle cable is not too tight. And also check your idle screw.

I've checked the idle screw and I screwed it in ALL the way, so it's not that. It doesn't jump up and down, BUT it does drop down to about 1000 sometimes and the car refuses to accelerate like normal. It feels like the power is there, but it's just not going anywhere. I will be replacing all the vacuum lines since they're 11 yrs old anyway, it's about time, with some black silicone vacuum tubes.
I think I've "resetted" by battery plenty times by now. Everytime I replace a fuse, I take the ground off, which resets the ECU, and I've replace fuses more than a dozen times since I got it.
So FIV is the one with the white screw that comes off lose. What about the IACV? What could go wrong with that?

check to see if the fuel pressure regulators is working properly. pull the line off the top of the regualtor and see if the idle increases or not. the problem may be in this area.
