I noticed on some coilovers the helper spring is either on top or at the bottom of the main spring.

Does the spring rate of the helper spring determine where they go? Are there any benefits from having them in either location? Did anyone switch theirs from the original location? Did you noticed any difference?

I already know the functions of helper springs. I want to know why certain companies put the spring on top or bottom of the main spring.
