B16a2 swap in a 97 DX
I have everything for my swap from a 00 Si. What I need to know is if the swap is plug and play. I was told that a 00 B16a2 would need extra wiring to make the swap complete. Is this true? I mean. I have the P28 ecu, Harness, complete motor. What else will I need to make this swap work?
It's not really all that simple... The '99-2000 Si is OBDIIb which as you've probably noticed uses the three big ECU plugs (A, B, and C)... Your '97 DX is OBDIIa which has both a different internal and engine harness (if you pull out your P2E (DX) ECU you'll notice that it runs plugs A, C, and D)... You probably could use this 2000 Si engine harness but it would take a lot of work to make plug and play with your current interior wiring harness... In your case I always just rewire the DX harness... Depending on how meticulous you are about stuff will change the length of time it takes... I am extremely meticulous and the entire DX harness would get ripped down to bare wire so that I could lengthen what needs to be lengthened and rewire what needs to be rewired... Cut any connectors you need off your '00 Si harness (i.e. VTS, VTM, KS, IAC, CKFS, etc.) and incorporate them all into your DX harness... Since the Y7 motors use a rotarty style IAC this one plug that needs to be changed (for the B16's linear IAC, 2 pin connector)... The CKFS plug also has to be changed since D series motors use a 3 pin connector, while B series use 2 pin connectors... Just a few of the little things you'll have to change... I've done this wiring many times and if you wanna do it right it'll take awhile... I just did an harness for my friend's '96 DX the other day, he got a JDM ITR motor so there were a few little things that I didn't have to add in (VTM and CKFS) but from start to finish it took me ~14 hours... I basically pieced the harness together from about three harnesses as the original one was butchered but even starting with a clean harness takes me around 6 hours... Again that's just me, my friend that I did the wiring for originally did the wiring for his CRVTEC... He stretched the DX harness to fit, spliced on a couple connectors and he managed to do the wiring in 30 mins, haha... Hope this helps, Good Luck
EDIT: Forgot to add that yes, just as everyone else has said the P28 is OBDI so you'll need a jumper to convert... If you do as I said and rework your DX harness to fit your A2 then just make or buy an OBDIIa-OBDI jumper... That's probably the best ECU to run besides maybe a '96-99 JDM ITR... I absolutely would not run a P72 (GSR, VTEC is waaaay too low and the mapping is ****) and the P2T will not work without an OBDIIa-OBDIIb jumper... My advice would be just to stick to the P28...
Here's a couple pics of Dave's harness that I just finished last week (I always have a mess going on in my room, it's amazing I get HOMEWORK done...

How much would you charge me to rewire a Harness for me? That way I could have a plug and play swap with out taking it to a shop for the wiring.

This would be fine if only your DX was a '99-2000 too, like I said it's not going to be plug and play (yes, the ECU to engine harness is) with your DX's ineterior harness... One thing or the other has to be rewired... I've never really charged anyone for a harness so I don't really know... The only reason I put up the pics above was to show what I do with every harness I make to fit nice and look clean...
Not that it's a big deal but I'm also sorta confused... You say you have a P28, so does that mean when you had your 2000 Si you were running it on an OBDI system? If so and you end up rewiring your DX harness (what most people would do in your situation) just use it... If you never meant anything about a P28 and you still have your STOCK 2000 Si (P2T) ECU you'll need an OBDIIa-OBDIIb jumper as others have said... It does save on a little wiring to run it on say a chipped P28 as the ECU doesn't have a CKFS or KS input...
