Default Help! Starting the engine.

I just bought a 00' GSR Teg and everything is fine but one. My wife just fought out from mistake that the car can start without depressing the clutch down. What is the cause of this?

There is a switch at the top of the clutch pedal arm that is supposed to restrict the starter from operating until the pedal is depressed. Either the switch got physically moved away from the pedal arm, the 'plunger' part of the switch broke off, or the previous owner decided to by-pass it's function for some reason.
