Help! Running SO RICH
My engine runs EXTREMELY rich. Its so rich ive had to lean it out with a vafc to get it to start up.
the vafc was installed correctly as a quick fix to get it running
this car is completely stock, nothin changed
Ive had to give it the following fuel settings:
-50 (MAX). it wont start up any other way..
what I know:
map sensor good.. vafc sees correct volt/psi from this signal
throttle sensor good
fuel pressure perfect
injector spray patterns are perfect
reset ecu, no fix
no codes present.
what kind of malfunction could cause the mixture to be SO RICH??
please help

EXTREMELY rich running? Any black smoke coming out the exhaust?
How was your VAFC wired? (Correctly?)
You could check the timing and it's related parts... maybe even the distributor and spark for the engine. It sounds like you have plenty of fuel and that the fuel system is OK, but if you get poor spark then your motor won't burn the fuel being mixed (causes rich running...).
Good luck!

no there is no black smoke. the mixture is correct because ive had to compensate via the vafc. i shouldnt have to do this though
Could any other sensor make it this bloody rich all the time, all rpm? (besides the ones ive checked).
no vaccum leaks, no exhaust or intake clogs.
my fuel correction is at -50%. it still idles and pulls hard though. if i slowly bring the fuel down to 0% correction, it bogs and stalls because its too rich. this is just to give u an idea of what is going on.
thanks for the idea guys
anyone know what this most likely is?
