Default Help with replacing distributor rotor

I took the distributor cap off. The hole where retaining screw holds the rotor is covered by plastic leak cover.

What’s the correct way to remove the distributor rotor?

Thanks in advance

There's a small screw under the top of the rotor, in the shaft part. You access it between the rotor "arm" and the plastic dusk cover.

Or go an easier way... mark where your distributor's set at so you know what the timing is.

Find the three bolts securing the dist, and remove it.

Rotate the shaft by hand to access the screw on the side holding the rotor on.

That way, you won't beat your starter trying to microrotate the rotor...

Sensor wiring harnesses need to be disconnected too.

Just make sure you get the distributor keyway orientation back onto teh intake cam correctly. Don't force it...it should just slide on without much of any effort.

need help again.. could not finish it that day.. had to wait until today.

Just turned the rotor so I can see the screw, but its too tight and I don't want to force and brake something.

Is there only one way to remove it properly? - taking the screw out first? or it pops out?

that's a common problem. don't try to go at it or you'll strip it. go buy an impact screw driver and that'll do the trick. that screw driver isn't very expensive and it'll serve you good in the future as well.
