Default help please

i am changing my motor in my 97 civic ex my freind is giving me a 98 dx motor the prom is me is v-tec his is not ?? is there going to be a wiring problem or what am i going to have to do ??? please help i don't have money to do anything else also how hard is it to take trans from my motor and put it on the 98 dx motor ???thanks

about the wiring problem. both of you guys could just swap out the complete engine wiring harness. note: 96-00 civics have an one peice harness. remember to exchange ECUs

got a problem there also he don;t have the car harness he did a swap and got rid of everything might have ecu but that won't work with my harness can i just run that n-vtec motor with my ecu or am i going to have to change it ??? what kind of problems am i going to run in to ??

yes, you could use your harness, and your ecu on the none vtec motor. i think the only problem you'll run into would be a check engine light. because your ECU would still be reading that you have Vtec.
