Help with mini-me swap
My son did a mini-me swap and the idle is fluctuating. He replaced the distributor, timing belt, plugs, wires, pcv valve and cleaned the throttle body. He checked for vacuum leaks and found nothing. He tried a differant ecu and still nothing changed.
He is at his wits end and is ready to put his old head back on. He read something about jumping something with a paperclip by the ecu to reset the timing. Any suggestions with this problem would greatly be appreciated.

if you can, please give the chassis it is in, ecu code you are using, bottom end code and head code....
for instance, 1998 Civic with d16y7 sohc non-vtec (stock) bottom end, d16y8 sohc vtec head and p2p d16y8 ecu.
With this info, we can start to sort possible issues

the check engine light does not come on. He checked fast idle valve and the iacv. The car ran great prior to the conversion. I am beginning to think from what he tells me they did not put the timing belt on correctly according to the procedures in the book. He also has a question about jumping something by the ecu to reset the timing one of his freinds told him about.
ive never heard about jumping something on the ecu to reset the timing.
the only thing i read about jumping something on the ecu is if u have a jdm motor u jump the vtec oil pressure switch to the vtec solenoid to by pass it or something like that...
try this out https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

ok so you only do that when you check the timing it doesnt effect the timing. Do you think the fitv valve could be dirty and maybe the coolant needs to be bled?

i bet this could definatly be your problem, make sure all coolant lines are secure and that there is no air in the system at all, good luck
