B18C1 vtec bogging problems??
wats up, this is my first post, but i have a 98 gsr with bolts and ctr cams, my car now tends too bogg out inbetween vtec...around the 6-8 rpm range? the car runs fine until then and there is no check engine light? i was wondering if anyone knows wat it could be?[IMG][/IMG]
well 6000k rpms is when the secondary's open in the intake mani. soooo... it should be making power then not losing it or bogging down. maybe your not getting enough fuel or something.
Are you sure that the VTEC is engaging? This would result in a rather anemic feel starting at about 5000RPM. This typically doesn't throw a CEL. As a first step, check your oil level.
Agreed... check your oil level first to make sure that the vtec engages and stays there. If your oil levels are fine but the vtec is bouncing in and out then I would take off the vtec solenoid and check the little screen to make sure there is no debris on it. If that's fine, then I would check timing. Remember, 16 to 18 degrees for stock. Advanced a little for bolt ons, but you'll have to find out where you should set it with that ctr cam. The next step that I suggest is to check to make sure that you are getting sufficient air into the motor (check air filter). I had a bogging problem with my b18c and all it was was something covering (blocking) the intake pipe (it's a long story). Hope some of this info helps.....
