Help me! IM STUMPED!!!
finally put my engine back in the fast car. its a built z6. i spun a rod bearing so i had to rebuild the bottom end. put everything back together and now it wont start. Here is what i've checked and done
thought i had a bad ground, so cleaned them all up - no good
here is what happens, the car sounds like its trying to turn over and spark, but nothing. i know i have fuel. i put in new plugs and when i pull them the are soaked. BUT, only #4 has some carbon on it, like the plug is a little dirty and some sort of combustion has happened. the other 3 look as if there was no spark going on at all (but i checked to see if a signal is getting sent to the plugs and it is), they all are perfectly clean.
sounds like timing right - well when putting the motor together, i set the crank on white mark and the cam at tdc with the marks on timing cover, i even pushed on the valves to make sure they shut and they were. maybe the head is 180 off, then wouldnt it push air out the tb, i checked that and nothing.
i checked compression, i get about 125-150 on all cylinders (remember - new rings havent seated yet).
still sounds like timing, i have the dizzy where it was when i pulled it, i made marks to realign it. timing on adj cam gear is the same too. check the cap and rotor and all looks good.
im gonna swap dizzy's tonight and see what that does, but im not expecting much.
if you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know.
thanks for the help in advance guys!
