Help with engine running like crap...
I drove through a 12 inch deep puddle and I thought I sucked some water up through my intake. Not on purpose...
I changed the oil&Filter,Checked the Distributor for water, sprayed all wires in the engine bay with wire dryer.Cleaned and dried and reinstalled my intake and filter.Checked for holes in the header and exhaust and it still is making this noise that Hondas arent supposed to make.
Im serious it sounds like a damn Mustang with flowmasters. Its the rumbleing gurggleing sound.Could there be a hairline crack in my header?I thought about that but theres no black chalky residue all over them or anything.
The only thing I can think of is:
#1. I bent something in the engine from some water getting in there. But if that was to happen it probaly would have done more damage than that, even just a little. When I took off my intake it had no water in it just a little bit of oil from the crankcase hose.
#2 I dont think its possible but maybe water got it my muffler. It would have dried up by now and or been blown out by me driving it.
It sounds like a exhaust leak, the kind where theres a hole somewhere in the piping.Im going to take it by a mechanic and see what he says for FREE.I have no damn money like always.
Thanks for any input
BTW should I call my insurance co. even though it was 2 nights ago?Thats if it is something really bad.

I don't know man, did you bottom out? I guess it's possible to have cracked your manifold if you did. Check the and see if you down pipe is sealed against the Cat. Where is the sound coming from?
A foot deep pot hole? you definitely bottomed out. Stock Integras are only about 6.5-6.75" off the ground. Sounds like something is cracked somewhere. Just pray it's only an exhaust piece and nothing related to the motor. As long as you don't have any leaks or smoke coming out of your exhaust pipe it should be safe to say your motor is ok.
No it wasnt a poyhole it was just a regular road that happened to be cover with water becuase of the thunderstorms we had here in Dallas.
We had Tornados, Hail storms, Flash Flood warnings...
Heres the thing though.I bought a generic header for my engine becasue my stock manifold had a huge crack in it.It didnt come with a donut gasket where the collector hooks up to the cat.So I had to buy one for a DC header (which the header is somewhat based on).Well the dobut doesnt fit all the way so I had to peel some of the donut gasket off and shove it in the cat.So the springs and bolts that you tighten are off. What side is tighter than the other.
Is it possible that water got in the cat?
Also if it was soemthing internal I would have some kinda smoke coming out the muffler wouldnt I?
Thanks

If you sucked in enough water, you may have bent a connecting rod. Water does not compress, so if you suck water into your engine, you end up bending rods. It's called "hydrolock" and if that's what happened, you are in for some major repairs. Have it checked out asap because if that is what happened, you may find one of your rods sticking out of the side of your block before too long.
