Help with custon turbo
Hey guys, ok, please dont flame me for this, i am new to the whole turbo thing, so i do not know what i "need" i have looked on ebay and crap for turbo kits, and have found some from 300-600, to the more known brands "greddy" for the nice price of 2-3k, now, i dont have 3 thousand dollars, nor do i need a BIG turbo, i just want somethign to get started with, now, lets get started!
I have a 93 honda civic ex coupe..
current things i have upgraded as now is a cat-back system, and a injen air intake
so if any one wants to give me a run down of what i "need" for now, i would be forever in your dept, i know some stuff i need, things i dont know that i "need" is an intercooler, and the down pipe, and like, the manifold and all that, thanks alot guys!

I'm not big into turbos so I know I'd miss something if I tried to list all the parts, so search under "custom turbo" in the archives of the forced induction forum. I got back 159 results. You can probably also find which parts will work better for your application if you look hard too. If that doesn't get your answer, post in the forced induction forum. Good luck.
seriously try searching more... you will come up with this site eventually...

well, see the thing is, i have seen that site.. i dont want to actully fabricate my own turbo piping and what not, i am going to buy the parts, but, was wodnering what parts are unnecasry for a low tubo boost, cuz i know im not ready for like, 100+hp boost.. which i can always go for in the near future, i just wanted to get started and keep the turbo at a lower psi 'for now'.. hope this makes sense, but ill search the forums and see what i can find!
thanks agan

I dont think its a good idea to cut corners by not buying some of the things required... maybe just buy lower end items instead.
ie... The blowoff valve from a 1st gen eclipse instead of the $800 greddy version.
Reread homemadeturbo, theyll tell you where you can find other components like an intercooler from different stock cars for cheap.
Leave your email address and Il give you a pdf on building your own turbo, if I can find it.

all the parts are listed there...
You need at a minimum...
exhaust manifold that will accomodate turbo.
turbo.
charge piping
some sort of fuel adder.
blow off valve.
above and beyond that you want
an intercooler
fuel managment
exhaust gas temp guage
frankly if you want to do this but don't want to buy a kit you have NO choice but to assemble your own...
the only charge pipe kits I know of are the greddy one's which require the use of the greddy turbo... the greddy fmic the greddy manifold etc...
Just save up and get a good kit... search the archieves for reviews of all the kits.
