Default Helicoil or Timesert?

Well, my crank is stripped, and I need to rethread it so I can put the pulley back on. My questions is this: Which thread repair tool/kit would best suit my needs? It needs to stand up to 140 ft/lbs of torque, and it needs to be a perm. fix. I was going to use a helicoil, but several people have told me it won't last... any suggestions on what to use to fix my crank would be helpful.

Yep, thanks for the info. Now I just have to figure out where I can take it to get it done... don't wanna do it myself because it's a one-shot type of project, and my crank is fairly important to me...

Look for a Tap and Dye shop in your area or check with your local machine shops. If they can't do it, they can refer you.
