Default CEL Code 9 help

i tried doin a search for this but didnt find anything really helpful
ok heres a link to all thats been happening
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=379290

basically i have a 89 crx si
im throwing code 9 from the ecu
car runs and idles fine
took the dist cap off and the rotor and cap are shot but the wiring seems to be fine
can or will the cap and rotor cause the CEL?
thought maybe after the wheel hop it might have thrown off the timing so i adjusted the timing a bit
and i tried resetting the ecu a few times and i still get the same CEL
from what i've been coming across it seems like i might have to replace the whole distibutor and some people are telling me it might just be the ignitor
do you guys have any suggestions

code 9 is the cyp sensor which if you have a single cam is in the distributor (part of it) and you need to replace it. If you have a zc (don't know if you do but you didn't say what motor) it is the thing running off the exhaust cam which may be bad or you need to check your wiring job. Also it is not your ignitor, cap or rotor that would cause this code.

thanks...yeah its the single cam...no motor swap here
anyways i figured the cap and rotor or ignitor woulnt throw a cel..
one more thing...its it alright to drive around with this cel cuz my crx is my beater car that i take to work and stuff...im guessing it'll be ok cuz its just the sensor thats screwed...am i right?

Yeah you can drive it throwing this code, but you can get a new single cam distibutor for cheap any where, so I would just fix it. One of my lazy freinds drove his zc with this code for a year before fixing his wiring. It will cause your cars ignition to run retarded which will effect performance.
