Default Is the heater valve on the firewall necessary?

Is the heater hose valve on the firewall necessary? When i did my swap, i never put it back on and was wondering its purpose. I've done a couple swaps in domestics and havn't seen this type of valve on any other car.

are you talking about the valve that allows coolant from the engine to flow to the heater core giving you heat?

It will be flowing all of the time. If you live in a cold place it might be ok. Plus, if you have AC it wont work right.
