Default heat guard removal - bad idea?

My heat guard hangs lower than my pet hampster's IQ. It scrapes on EVERYTHING. I want to take it off.

What are the cons for removing it? Or should I leave it be?

BTW, I have a 98 ek with stock header.

if you cant bend it up to where it doewsnt scrape, by banging or some other means, then by all means rip the bitch off, you might experience slightly higher engine compartment temps, but not enough to worry abotu unless you alreayd ahve an overheating problem....other than that...nothing....jst be sure your exhaust manifold doesnt scrape then...or after a while youll be dealign with a nasty exahust leak.

Thanks for the input. Wouldn't mind hearing from a few more people, though...

I took all mine off except for the one covering the cat. No issues here.

Take it off. All it will do is harden the sound deadening material under your carpet.
