which HEADSTUDS do i use?
all pr3 headstuds are the same. think bout what you say, the block is taller. the head isnt taller. i heard from a reliable source ALWAYS use the headstuds designed for the head you are using, unless you have a deckplate. remember ls/vtec's use studs/bolts designed for the head they have on them. same deal here. poorman itr should use mostly itr parts. if i was you i would buy 97 itr gasket kits, oil pump, water pump, tensioner assembly, timing belt, aebs headstuds and of course itr valve cover. i guess a few parts you have to buy the 97 instead of the 98-up. not sure if any of the stuff i listed does.

B16 will be too short
B16 will be too short

i'm totally confused now.
arent the type r head and b16 head off the same cast? so should i get the headstuds for the b18c.x. which will thread down all the way? or get b16 to match the head.

that makes sence.
the deck in the b18's are taller than that of the b16. and the b16 studs might work, just wont utilize the rest of the threads the block has.
i guess i was more curious as to weather the head required the same amount of......stud after they were installed on the block.
ok anyways....
thanks a lot, now i know what to do and to do it correctly.

I don't believe this is true. The height on the B18c and the B16a heads are identical. You can use either one. The determining factor for which head studs to use is the block height. B16a studs ARE TOO SHORT. I've used them, they backed out on me because they did not thread into the block enough. The 7mm height difference between B16a and B18 blocks is the determining factor.
If using a B18 block and any vtec head, ALWAYS use GSR or ITR head studs/bolts.

Huh? No, you are going by blocks, not heads. Unless you have an LS head where some of the locations where the bolts go are taller than others.
