I'd be concerned with developing an exhaust leak with such a device. Especially if your exhaust is restrictive. Your best bet, though it would be cool to flip a switch for an instant dump pipe, would be to instead use 3 or 4 bolts and just have a steel plate you unbolt from the end. So instead of the electric motor and plate... just a solid piece of metal with an exhaust gasket to seal up tightly. Exhaust leaks suck.

I heard something about a spring loaded cutout. When your exhuast creates enough pressure, it pushes the cutout open. I have only heard about it, but have never found any info on it. If anyone knows any info about it, please post, thanks.

Assuming that was true, you might as well have no exhaust.

not really, if you have that and you are just cruising, it would be closed, but when you floor the gas, it would most likely cause pressure build up, causing the valve to open up.

I think I'm gonna stick with the "you might as well have no exhaust theory" and add the "sounds like an overpriced non-functional sales gimmick" theory. I just don't see anything like that being a daily driven type of modification... and certainly not something for use @ the track. Pointless

EDIT: Sitting at a red light, light turns green. You accelerate. Dump "valve" opens and car roars and sounds as if it's going real fast while at the same time breaking noise pollution laws and exhaust fume laws. WOT not necessary to create enough pressure to open the valve or it wouldn't be effective as a free flowing exhaust.

your best bet is to go with a cat-back exhaust if you are looking for better flow. if looking for something to use @ the track, the dump tubes that have end caps which you can unbolt seem to be most popular b/c they don't leak like many of the y adapters with plates in them.

i plan on using a stock gsr muffler, but i wanna add a y-pipe so i can have some extra power. i don't wanna get harrassed by cops, so that is why i want to front, using a stock gsr muffler. i plan on going FI in the future, so exhaust dump would be a good idea.
