Default hard to turn bottom end

ok so im building an ls for boost i have je pistons 8.5:1 and eagle h beams. i did a self hone job. it looked really good to me nice walls all the same tone. Well i put my bottom end together and after it was all done i went to turn the crank and i hard to use a bitch bar to turn it. i was wondering if it is hard to turn because the rings are not seated yet or i messed something up. the only thing i can think of is if the eagle rods are directional or something. thank you!

Did you radius the bottom of the block so the eagle rods wont hit the girdle?

i dont even have it on yet just have the crank torqued and the rod caps torqued too it is just when i start to turn like once it turns it is fine but when i stop it is that initial start that is hard.

What?? Im talking about radiusing the block itself. Eagle rods are so big, you have to trim some of the block so they dont make contact on the casting. If your dont have the oil pan on, you should be able to see what im talking about... Also, im sure you can do some searching on this forum and see pictures of what im talking about.

Also, did you check all of your bearing clearances? Did you use any assembly lubricant? Did you lubricate the pistons or cylinder walls? Follow the proper torque sequences?

yup followed the hanes manual and finished with the torque arp and eagle gave me. ill look but yes i lubricated everything but the wrist pins and i did it with assembly lube. i oiled the pistons the cylinder walls even had the motor upside down and filled the pistons with oil. the cranked turned fine then when i put my pistons and rods it it got hard to rotate. i was just wondering if like the hone and the new rings would make it hard to rotate or i have something bigger wrong. and are eagle rods directional or anything?

Remove the piston/rod assemblies one at a time until the engine is easy to turn it over and you will know which piston/rod is causing the problem.

Still havent answered my question on whether or not you radiused the block for bigger rods. If you didnt, then it has to be done...

it's an ls. you don't have to notch the block.
