Hard starting with Hondata
Hi All,
I couldn't find much by searching. Please advise if this is addressed elsewhere.
I just bought my second Prelude. It's a '97 with the following:
Hondata
P&P heads
Skunk II valve train and stage 2 Cams
Aem pulleys & cam sprockets
DC headers and exhaust
AEM CAI
Volk Racing wheels
Ground Control coilovers
KYB struts, Neuspeed strut bar
To cut to the chase, the car runs beautifully, but doesn't start up as easily as I'm used to. It'll rarely start on the first crank, and I often have to try twice to get it started. The seller is telling me it's tuned to run extra rich when started and that's why it's doing this. I don't like it this way and am wondering if I need to pay to have it retuned or if you guys think it's the result of something else. I have neither tuning experience or a laptop.
Also, the car has an air/fuel ratio gauge that holds steady if at full throttle, but continuously "bounces" between lean and normal while at idle or half throttle. Is this an error in the tuning as well, or should I write it off as normal? It's quite annoying to look at in my periferal vision!
Thanks in advance!
Dylan

Have it properly tuned. It should fire right off and idle.Mine does whether it's 0 degrees or 100 degrees. It sounds like you have a narrow band a/f ratio gauge in the car which is basically useless other than a light show.
