Hard question about TDC sensor, please help.
Hi.
I know that in B16A and B18C engine TDC sensor is location in distributor.
TDC sensor give one pulse per cam revolution!
I`m interesting how it work in new K-series engine, K20A2,etc.
TDC sensor read info from special pulse plate installed on exhaust camshaft.
I ask, how many pulse give TDC sensor in K-series engine per cam revolution.
One these same like B16A engine,
or mayby give three pulse per cam revolution- every cylinder except #1 cylinder.
thanks for any help.

OK, thanks .
Mayby you will find somethink.
but
I also have Manual workshop from European Civic Type R Ep3 K20a2.
in Manual workshop is not any info about it.
TDC sensor pulse when engine start, TDC sensor has three connectors ( three cable) firts YEL/BLC , second GRN, third BRN/YEL) that`s all info .
TDC sensor read info from Pulse plate. Technical diagram is not good quality, but perhaps TDC pulse plate has 4 symbol. One of symbol is other than rest.
It is only perhaps.
Thanks

okay, I finally have an answer for you on the k20 motors(i-vtec).
The TDC sensor is located on the exhaust camshaft on the #4 cylinder end.
Now, there is a 5 tooth rotor that the sensor meassure at two different angles during the rotation of the crankshaft:1) at 720 degrees and 2) at 180 degree.
The 720 degree tells the PCM/ECM the #1 position. However, the PCM/ECM also need input from the CKP to detect #1 position. And, the 180 degree angle detects top dead center position for each cylinder.

Sorry for problem, but I would like know
how exactly TDC sensor works in B16A engine?
What measure TDC sensor in B16A/B18C engine? Which angle?
Thanks for info

TDC sensor is a stuid idea. I can't believe Honda still does this.
Do K-series still have a ton of sensors on the head? Do they have a real crank sensor yet?
I have a B16A with 3 position sensors right next to each other in the distributor. What's the point!
If they had one real crank sensor and one real cam sensor, that would be all you'd ever need to time fuel injection and ignition. I think the TDC sensor is only used to start the engine.

Hondas typically always have three sensors. A 24 tooth, single tooth and a 4 tooth. When the motor is running only the 24 tooth and single tooth is being used. The 4 tooth is for faster start up syncing. On the RSX. There are three sensors one on each cam and one on the crank.
