worst comes to worst i would take the lower cover off and pry the tensioner up with a screwdriver.

I had the same problem with the tensioner, no matter how many teeth i turned it CC it never tensioned.

Its all in where u keep the slack on the belt

this is how i do it.
unravel the hook end like you would when trying to break into your car after locking the keys in it. straighten out the hook and make a hook about 1/4 the size. then stick it bettween the cover and block and try and pull up on the lever that the spring is attached to on the tensioner. you can pull on the spring but sometimes you can pull it off the post if you do that then you have to take the timming belt cover off. when doing this make sure all of the slack is on the right side (intake side). hope this helped.

thanks limpy. i wasnt sure if i was supposed to actually pull the spring off the post, seemed kinda risky to me but its a last resort and if that doesnt work the timing cover has to come off anyway

does anyway know what causes this????

How would you make sure the slack is on the intake side? Isn't the slack always on the exhaust side?

get everything lined up and then turn the exhaust cam clock wise, then the intake and it will put all of the slack on the intake side of the motor.
