H22 troubles
I have a 1995 civic with a 95 h22a swap. I am running a p13 ecu with a rywire conversion harness. My problem is that when my car gets up to normal running temperature it runs like a snail. Looses all power and wont get out of its own way. But if I click the key off and then on again when its doing this it will gain all power back and run 100% for about 20 seconds then instantly loose power and run like garbage again. I have tried my friends good p13 ecu and his good h22 dizzy. Neither made a difference with the way my car was acting. It will sometimes throw the knock sensor code. Knock sensor is brand new by the way because I broke the old one when the engine was out while removing the harness. I am STUMPED on this. I did mangage to get my idle surge to go away by disconnecting my fuel pressure regulator. My fuel pressure went from 28 to 35 by doing this. I had my drivability problem before messing with the FPR so that is not the reason for my issue. I have just been trying every trick to try to resolve this. Even my dad a 40 year ase certified tech is stumped. That is why I am back on the forum to see if maybe somebody has ran into anything similar to this. Getting so very discouraged with the car lately... please help
new information! I am getting code 6 (engine coolant temp sensor) as well as code 12 (knock sensor).... is the ect the plug right under the dizzy on the head? next to the plug that runs my temp gauge i believe...
More info... I disconnected the head temp sensor or ect and it now idles at 1600 rpm's has no hesitation when accelarating, no vtec of course and olny revs to 6500 rpm's. I am thinking maybe The sensor is on the fritz. But if that were so wouldn't unplugging it make no difference at all? Or maybe not, could it be that the ect is telling the computer that the engine is overheating or something like that?? I am just running through possibilities. I want to try a differnt sensor. I have an H23A1 sitting in the shop... would that sensor work on my H22A?
the sensors should be the same. and if your throwing a code for the knock, its probably bad and will have to be replaced.
i just swapped a h22 into my 94 civic ex and did my own wiring harness with lotttttsssss of help from my brother and it runs like a champ off of the p13. the haspot and rywire harness are not worth the money if you have time on your hands!

yea.... but it ran like a champ for 25,000 miles then this just developed. Might I add it ran like a champ without a knock sensor at all. I just recently installed a brand new Honda oem nock sensor and then developed this problem not too soon after. Hows that for [freak]ed up lol?
