Gunk Engine Flush
The other day I saw a product at the auto parts store and I would like to know if anyone out there can answer a question about it. The product is called Gunk Engine Flush. You pour it into the oil right before an oil change and then idle the engine for about 5 minutes. Supposedly it dissolves all the sludge. Then you drain the oil and they say all the sludge comes out with the oil. Then you put a new filter and new oil in just like always. There is one thing I am concerned about. I have heard that with this product chunks of sludge can come off and plug the smaller passages. Is that true or just another urban legend?
that stuff works good on old neglected engines with sludge build up in the crank case. as long as you do your regular oil changes as scheduled you should not need that stuff.
simply take your oil cap off and look inside. if there is allot of build-up of crap then it might be a good idea to use that stuff. if not then just change your oil as normal.

That stuff should be OK for engines that are maybe not so thick with crud.
Auto RX is supposed to work more slowly so it doesn't break off large chunks of crud. I think the folks at bobistheoilguy talk about this over at that site...?
I've used Gunk but I don't believe that engine was really bad to begin with. I've never used AutoRX so I can't say from actual experience.
