Icon2 Is it a good idea to change my normal engine oil to fully synthetic engine oil on CRV

I was wondering will fully synthetic engine oil damage my CRV's engine? I just got this CRV a week ago and Im thinking on doing a oil change on it this week.... but I was wondering will it be a good idea to go from Non-Synthetic engine oil to Fully Synthetic engine oil? Its a 2001 CRV and it has 126,1xx miles on it

it should be fine, the not putting synthetic oil in a non synthetic run engine goes back to the old days of synthetic oils, the new stuff is completely compatible, the only issue you might get, is if you have any leaks, the synthetic is so slippery it might leak faster

Exactly. It could work. but would leak a little more. Personally, though, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

the main thing is in something like you are driving it will actually save you some gas by reducing internal friction

yeah it has the ability to get into smaller areas, so if you have any leaks it will find them.

jus keep with the grade ur motor recommends, or better, i use 5w50 full synthetic, but i have heard rumors bout synthetics cloggin the vtech solenoid but ive had no problems with it, n ive worked in a shop for the last 5 yrs and havent heard of that happening, i think that some people jus dont wanna pay the extra for full synthetic

I've gone full synthetic on a CRX that, at the time, had over 180k miles on it (using Mobil-1 high-mileage 10w30). Now it's up to 217k and still running strong. No problems with leaks or anything stupid like that. I did replace the cam seal when I did the timing belt at 200k, but that was already leaking before I switched.
