Default Engine Oil??

Anybody here know wat kinda oil will make my engine perform better.. cuz i recently switched my oil with valvoline.. not synthetic... but anyways it seems that my engine doesn't get up as good anymore.. since i changed it. I heard castrol has thinner oil and works better?? Anybody have any suggestions?

alot of people like mobile 1 synthetic oil.......personally i like QuakerState 5W30 conventional oil.........

the gains felt form engine oil alone are minimal so i wouldent worry about expecting any power form oil........

well I'm not expecting HP gains hehe.. I know oil doesn't give $hit.. but i'm talking about performance .. it seems my engine doens't run as good as it use to b4 i changed to valvoline. Mobil 1?? Man that stuff is pretty expensive.. but i'll probably try that next after its due to change again.

if you were using synthetic oil and changed to conventional oil you may feel that your engine is a but slugish than with synthetic. this because synthetic oils are a bit more silppier than conventional oil. oil brands are very similar, other than how it was made and the type of additives are in the bottle. performance wise, synthetic will be slippier than conventional so less friction = power. not l ike 1 or 2 hp's but will help your engine rev quicker. jus like non-VTEC said, different brands or types of oil is marginal regaurding performance or power gain.

i use synthetic. engine feels like its happier when revving. its a little bit quicker. seems to hold idle better, etc.
i also choose to run mobil 1 because it saves the natural oil that we have. we need to save that stuff for the future.

I use castrol syntec 5w-50, it's what the guy had in it when I bought my car. I would rather use synthetic myself. I feel I can trust it more that it won't break down easily.

Actually Mobil 1 CAN add 1-2 HP... check this nice site out; it has a nice dyno result proving that: http://www.importreview.com/performance.html
...now I think that's worth the extra few bucks for an oil change, and I'm sure you're not as likely to end up running into common engine problems (loss of compression, burning oil) down the road if you use a good Synthetic oil like Mobil 1. I noticed that my car revved up nicer after I switched to Mobil 1 from some of that conventional crap...

I used Castrol GTX 10w30 when I was naturally aspirated. Now I used Mobil 1 synthetic 10w30 after going turbo. If you're gonna stay naturally aspirated, there's nothing wrong with using regular oil. I think Honda dealers usually put in Castrol GTX. At least in Sacramento they do.

That's silly.

When I dynoed it showed a 3 HP variance between the strongest a weakest pull. Nothing changed, same dyno, same gear, same day, 3 pulls within 20 minutes.

That's like if I had a limp bizkit CD playing during one pull, and a brittany spears CD playing during my final pull. Wow, I had a 3 HP gain with the brittany spears CD, I'm gonna play that one at the track!

I didn't know that Britney Spears actually freed up movement in your engine, with a better viscocity, and thus increased horsepower in that respect, if you know what I mean. I just thought she looked good in a tight shirt...

...I'm sure they average dyno pulls to make such as strong statement about oils too...
