Gsr Tranny problems
i just recently swaped a jdm gsr in to my girls hatchback. Everything went perfect till we filled up the trans with fliud, it began to leak,No big deal we tightened it up for the time being with intenstions of going back and using rtv sealer to take care of thr leak.put the gsr linkage on with the honda pin through the linkage (the linkage is not upside down it is the right way.)So then i hop in the car to start it and it fires right up i slowly let the clutch out and the car stalls(so it was in gear) start it up again and as i go to put it in neutral i notice that i cant find neutral let alone any other gear.(might i add that i think the case split before i bought it) The second or third time of trying to find neutral i found it,but i can take the shifter and do figure 8's with it and any other pattern you can think of.
playing with the shifter i can feel linkage moveing smoothly but not finding any gears????
So that is where i stand!
This is to somebody who knows a thing or two about trans// on the outside of the case there are those to bolts that when you take them out a spring and a single ball bearing comes out of each if they are not properly put back would everthing i just explaned be the effect?????????????????????????????????????
ONLY REPLY IF YOU HAVE A SENSEABLE ANSWER NOTHING OF THE OBVIOUS I HAVE ALREADY CHECKED AND RE-CHECKED THEM

Yeah, it can do that. Those are part of the mechanism that interlocks the shift forks to each other. Mess it up & you can engage 2 gears at the same time, this locks up the tranny. If you can move the shifter all around, maybe there's more stuff broken in addition to that??

I tend to maybe agree with this. If the shifter can do figure 8's, it sounds like something is wrong with the gear selector inside the tranny. Try taking off the shift linkage at the tranny and using an allen wrench through the bitch pin slot to shift it. See what it feels like then.

That was on of the things i did and no matter how many times i tried to find a gear with the allen wrench i could always go side to side as it would in neutral...???

No i didnt take them up i just knew from a previous trans i helped my friend with ...See the deal is i bought this full swap from north jersey and they told me everything is "mint" but at the same time who knows what went on over in japan or where ever it was last (cali)what i think is that somebody obviously took it a part and then put it back together and did realize they have to be lined up with the shift forks..... at least that is what i am hoping for
Thanks
