Default grinds because of short shifter?

has anyone else experienced that with quick shifts with some short shifters it can really give your synchros a chore and grind? I find 1st-2nd is nearly impossible to get in with this stupid short shifter and if I force it it grinds in. The tranny is in great shape! For what other reasons could 1st-2nd be so nasty to deal with? misaligned shift linkage, etc?

From things I remember reading, short shifters will usually kill syncros and make quick shifts a lot harder on the tranny. Other than my stock LS shifter, would a GSR or ITR unit be a better medium?

Shifters don't kill transmissions, people do. Transmission synchros just go bad over time, the 99-00 civics are notorious for having there 2 and 3 gear synchros going bad.
