Default greddy gauge question

so i have a greddy exhaust gauge, and i need to buy a new probe(lol u dirty minded ppl) for it to work properly. i have read somewhere you can you use another type of probe as long as you cut and splice the wires correctly. has any one else ever tried this or heard of this method before?? id really like to know for the mere fact i would be saving like 50/60 bucks if it is true

I used an autometer probe last time for my Greddy EGT gauge. I don't remember the wiring, but I was able to try both ways and make it work.

so technically this is an okay way to approach the "ghetto rigged way" of doing it?

Are you asking for permission? It meets your criteria-cheaper while retaining functionality. Splice the wires professionally. I wouldn't call that rigged.

Not really ghetto rigged. The Autometer probe I picked up was the style where it terminates with the eyelets where you could attach them to a terminal block assembly and have a nice clean looking install. Terminate you Greddy wiring the same way and it looks great.
