GD MF POS AXLE NUT!!!!
Ok...those of you who have been following know I have broken a half inch drive breaker bar, and ratchet on this bastard...now I just finished trying to TORCH the ****, and it STILL WON"T BUDGE....WTF can I do???
ok DragII.. When using the torch you should concentrate the flame on the nut itself and getting the nut "cherry red" hot, and keep the flame away from the axle stem.... This will expand the nut and help in getting it loose.. the nut should come loose in this case.. Forget about air guns, I've broken a hella lot more bolts with my hand tools than I have with my assorted combination of air tools.. air tools have "hammer" impact w/ short blows... 1/2 isnt gonna do it.. like I said prior, only 3/4 or 1" impact air gun will break a stubborn nut like that loose, these particular guns are rather expensive and run $400+
Trust me, there is a chance you may waste the wheel bearing, but if you get the nut red hot it will come loose...

did you remove the little part thats indented into the axel? just stick a flathead in there and hammer, it will make it easier to get off.

trying some penetrating oil now...running out of Ideas, and ready to start cuttin
First time I had to take one off, I snapped a 1/2" breaker on it. I had a 1/2" electric impact with me, but I wanted to see just how tough that nut was. Anyway, that electric impact had some *****, it took it off in 2 seconds. Most rental places have electric impact wrenches so you won't need to get the compressor. Good luck.
if that dont work this will %100 , i had tis problem before get your friend in the car and put his foot on the brake as hard as he can then put a large PIPE werench ( visegrips wont work) on the SOCKET then put a 4 or 5 foot bar on the pipe werench and your done this will get it off %100 or your money back i hope this helps
Just for reference sake, its NOT a good idea to use a Impact Wrench on an axel nut, you risk damaging the tranny. Try this, use a 1/2 or even better a 3/4inch drive breaker bar. (Get a craftsman, they dont snap and if they do, you get another one for free!) Take the handle from a floor jack, slide it over the breaker bar, and in effect you get a wrench about 5 feet long, there is no way that that shouldnt take the nut off. Good luck

Bro I had the same problem an air gun couldn't get it loose hand tools where no good. I ended up using a breaker bar and a 6 foot pipe for leverage. I had my homie slam on the breaks and puth the trans in gear. I then squated under the 3 inch 6 foot long pipe and lifted it with my shoulders and pushed with my legs after like 2 tries that bitch came off.

Drag,
I feel for ya man. I broke two breaker bars on my just this week. I finally coated it in WD40 and let it sit for two days. I put the car on the ground with the rims on it(put some big scratshes in my rims
), and used the jack handle on a rachet. stood on it, and the F*%$ing thing let go, and just unscrewed. Wasn't rusted or anything. I guess what I'm saying is walk away, rethink it, maybe WD40 or some better penetrating oil, and just keep trying.
Best of luck.

did you try what i told you i will work so dont waste your time doing anything else large pip wrench 24" will work %100 and a 4 foot bar on it you wont slip or break any breakebars
does anyone here know what an impact does? it doesnt put steady pressure on the nut it hits it and hits it. well if you get a mini sleg and breaker bar and about 2 feet of pipe put the 32mm socket on the bar and the pipe over the bar and all this geos on the nut. the your gloved had goes where the bar and pipe go together and then the start to smack the bar over and over and i will bet my car this will work. i call it the poor boy impact it worked for my crank pully nut. give it a try what the hell right?
