fuel pump safety
I replaced a fuel pump on a 91 crx dx a while back. But it's been buggin me for a while... I noticed the fuel pump wire connections are placed inside the fuel tank and are held in place by tiny 8mm nuts and a couple washers. The only protection i saw were plastic tabs that cover the top, but the dont completely cover the connections.
What would happen if one of the wires came loose? Wouldnt that create a potential spark or is there not enough current to do that? Are all hondas designed this way? I realize it must be very safe otherwise there'd be cars blowin up but what if someone installed it improperly or didnt torque to spec, it's an unnerving thought to me.

I've wondered about that too. Just a thought - I don't know if this is right???
When you fill your tank, 'most' of the air is pushed out. As you use the gasoline, it evaporates to fill the space in the tank. The gas cap & the EVAP vents don't let air in. So after a couple tankfulls of gasoline, the tank doesn't have any air in it. I know that much is true.
You gotta have fuel AND AIR. So even if there's a spark, it can't ignite. But it seems like a spark is still dangerous for a couple tankfulls after you open your tank to mess with your fuel pump or gauge sender. Besides, we've all seen those people who forget their caps when they fill their gas tanks...

so then i can hack up my harness for the plug that goes to my fuel pump and make it work with a 93 h22 fuel pump right..as long as the connection is tight..and nothing would make a spark...

For that you'd want a whole different kind of flame suit...
