Default Fuel injector differences - Rates, type, and performance.

I've been doing a bit of research on fuel injectors, and have the following questions:
How do increased rates of fuel, help performance? - I.E. What other modifications need to be done to make a difference.
What is the difference between "peak and hold" and "Saturated" injectors?
For example; what would happen if I put the injectors from a 1992-96 Prelude VTEC (Peak and hold of 345cc) in a 92 SiR B16a? How would the ECU react? Could it adapt?
Here we go, thanks. EW-

im not sure exactly what would happen. But I know you might have an idle problem with bigger injectors.
Also, you might want to confirm the specs on the 92-96 Prelude injectres. I remember them being lower than 345cc (like 310 or something).

well peak and hold injectors are low impeiadence lower resistance. saturated are high impeidence. peak and hold injectors came in pre obd honda's high impeidence injectors came in the 92-up's civics and 96 and up preludes. peak and holds are better due to them running cooler than the saturted ones. also they only make saturated's to 450cc from rc. so if you need big injectors you have to use peak and hold injectors.

Look dont worry about all that peak and hold mombo jumbo. Injecter are injecters. All they do is............well ummmm........inject!! what you need is a super charger!!! not only will this mod make your car really fast but you can tell every one you have a super charger on your car!! Try this and tell me how it works.
oh and if you have a hard time finding a super charger try selling your car and buying a new one that comes with a super charger and those little injecter gadjets you are so interested in.
good luck

I'm sure that some people here may disagree with this statement, but...

You cannot safely run peak and hold injectors on an ECU designed to drive saturated injectors. The saturated ECU injector drivers will simply not be able to generate enough current to keep the peak and hold injector open for the full pulse width. This can result in unpredictable fuel delivery and can also cause possible ECU damage.

93-96 VTEC Prelude injectors are peak and hold and rated 310cc (but usually flow higher in actuallity). 97+ Prelude injectors are satuarted and rated 290cc. In a B16 with a B series ECU, you should go with the 97+ saturated H22a injectors.

just out of curiousity, what would happen if you had peak and hold injectors by mistake in a lude which came with saturated injectors? would they work at all? it sounds from your description like they might work for a while but eventually damage the ecu??

You should know that money is not the answer. Turbos are not the answer. Your stupid Supercharger idea, is lame, and is not the answer.
Phased Plasma injectors ARE the answer! However, a few minor modifications have to be made first.
1. Replace the existing D16b or B16a R1 JDM motor with a rotary phased array made of arkenium duranide and single crystal ferrocarbonate, with mangentic constriction toroids of nalgetium serrite. Control inputs and feedback are handled by twelve redundent (just jike you) links to the ODN. The plasma injectors (hence the begining of this thread. (You probably think I was asking about the atmospheric mist injection of distilled fossil fuels into a combustion chamber in an internal cumbustion engine. Peasant. Stupid peasant.)) fire sequentailly, the rotary array increases the power generation. As the power increases the vehicle, which looks like a 1991 Honda Civic goes much faster. I wanted to know about the differences between the the magnetic constriction segments, that are inside the injectors. The pressure vessel torroids are usually alternating layers of vapor-deposited carbonic ferracite and transparent aluminum borosilicate. The vertical tension members are machined tritanium and cortenite reinforcing rods. Which are phase bonded in place as the engine is made into a unified structure. How would the different cc delivery rates effect the toroidal rotary system? If you have any useful information, please write back. If not...

what the F is your problem?

....If you have any useful information, please write back. If not, shut the f&*k up and stop wasting bandwith, primitive human. I'm amazed, and shocked, and baffled.... Agitated, upset, angry, depresed, feeling unreal. I think I'll go for a very fast drive. Perhaps the roads will be wet, I'd like that. A chance to try out the new lateral gravity polarizers. Question: Which night vision filter and IR projectors to use tonight?

A peak and hold injector driver works like this: The driver sends out a high current signal to the injector. The the current is high enough to get the injector to open. It's around 6-8 ampres. But that current is so high that it is impractical to maintain it for the full pulse width. So after the initial "peak" to force open the injector, the driver drops off the current to a much lower level for the remainder of the pulsewidth (the "hold" part). The low-impedance injector stays open until the current drops off entirely.

A peak and hold injector signal looks like:

A saturated injector works like this: A much lower level of current is needed to initially open a high-impendance saturated injector. It's normally around 1-2 ampres. The full current is maintained for the entire pulse-width. When the current is shut off, the injector closes.

A saturated injector signal looks like:

When you have a saturated injector driver trying to drive a peak and hold injector, you will have several problems... 1) The saturated driver may not be able to generate enough current to even initially open the peak and hold injector reliably. 2)Even if it can open the peak and hold injector, the saturated driver will probably not be able to maintain enough current to keep the injector open for the full pulse width. 3) The saturated driver will try and maintain that high current full current for the full pulsewidth. In other words, it's trying to "peak" for the whole pulsewidth. It never drops off to the "hold" level. 4) The driver can damage itself by continuing to try to drive more current than it was ever designed to.
