Default Fuel Filter/Catch Can?

Hey, I was surfing the net looking at some DIY's and I came across a $3 fuel filter used as a oil catch can

I was wandering, on a n/a motor, will this get the job done? Any input would be greatly appreciated.. searched for "diy catch can" and didnt see anything like this

as long as it traps the oil and doesnt let it go into the IM itll work.

It works,

Just keeps a bit of the oil mist from getting into the intake manifold. If you get a clear one then you can tell when its dirty and change it accordingly.

Its not really a catch can tho, more like a filter but it serves the same purpose-- to keep oil out of the intake
