Check tha seal around ur vtec solenoid. If tha rubber seal is failing air and water are elevating the pressure valve inside. May be preventing vtec from kicking in. Idk why ur rev limiter is comin in so soon though

I tested another vtec solenoid and housing from a friend car that are in great running condition and it still perform the same.. thanks.. u have any other ideas what water could affect that cause my rev limiter to be so low? i don't know if this helps but, when my cluster shows I'm doing 80mph my rpm is just above 3200-3400rpm in 5th gear.. is that correct? ecu, engine, and transmission are gsr stock..

Check your plug wires in the valve cover to make sure water didn't get down into the tubes.

i replaced and installed new spark plugs and wires.. before the engine wash i was able to rev above 8500 rpm without vtec engagement.. now it wouldn't rev any higher than 7200rpm.. So what do you guys think that could cause the rev limiter to be so low..if i were to rev above 6000k its smells, bad fume like fuel is not burning correctly.. this is what i have tested so far but problem still the same: new distributor, spark plugs and wires, ecu, vtec solenoid and switch.. please help me out guys, i have been getting real bad mpg burned..

Ditto that,

Moisture down the spark plug tubes is a common problem when washing the engine/engine bay, and it makes no diff. if you you have new plugs and wires. 94

I have clean the moisture/water but still having the rev/fuel cut problem at proximity 7k-72k rpm... my speed shows I'm passing 40 mph first gear at 7k rpm.. could my vss sending bad signal to my ecu?

before this problem occur on me, my car was doing 4k rpm about 80mph almost like yours, but now its weird like my tachometer is off or vss sending faulty signal to the ecu.. I check timing and cams timing there are inspect.. idk what water could damage that affect my my rev/fuel cut..

Sup guys, i just got a new cel code 22; vtec pressure switch. i know it well affect vtec, but do you guys think code 22 is the problem that could cause my rev limiter to be so low?

CEL codes are great to get. Address that issue directly, clear the code and see if it comes back.

1: Do you have a Fuel pressure gauge? If so whats your F/P ?
2: Did you accidentally knock off any vacuum hoses?
3: is your MAP and TPS Censors plugged in the right places? (I did this one myself! lol )
4: Are you running a stock ECU? Or a Chipped ecu? Cold air in take or short ram?

I have seen once before a friend has a slight radiator hose leak that was leaking directly onto his cold air intake filter, this caused the exact symptoms your having.

Check the diagram for any popped of vacuum hoses.

vtec engage Depends On three things
1-The temperature of the engine
2-Speedometer
3-Oil pressure

as you say cel code 22

I fix the code 22. it was was a lose wire to the ecu on the harness.. replace and reset the code.. but still have speed and rpm issue.. i test drove on the freeway trying to hit 80 mph on 5th gear, my rpm stayed stuck at 3k about an extra 10 mph then move again slowly.. i also have a different speed sensor.

after this parts swaping contest buy a meter and you'll solve your problems.
Time to start checking voltage signals to and from the ecu and checking for continuity through your wire harness and from your ground points to your chasis.
Jack up your front wheels and have someone spin them while you check the 5v output it sends to your ecu. That same signal goes to your speedometer.

What ecu setup do you have?
Stock?

yeah sorry I forgot to mention vss sensor.
Check the voltage signals there. Its the sensor on the tranny.

I tested the vss: ground has continuity, signal has positive 4.9 volts, and battery source 12.10 volts.. tested all three wires so im assuming the wires from and to the is ecu are working properly.

1- I've change out the thermostat and replace antifreeze 50/50 temp is working correctly.
2- I think my speed is correct i tested the vss and its working
3- I did the oil pressure test and it read pressure

Sup yal my code 22 was stored in memory again.. I'll try swapping out another known good vtec pressure switch and solenoid.. and test wire continuity again.. I will inform yal if the problem is solved or at least I eliminated code 22.. But any input from yal will help.. thanks
