It looks like over-kill to me. It looks like to weighs about 20 lbs.

I'ld rather stick with the stock girdle.

the original poster needs to post more info on his setup.

what areyour goals?

what engine setup do you have?

how how are you going to rev?

track car, or daily driver?

if you ever hold one of these in your hand you'll see why they cost $350. the quailty is excellent, and in all honesty, its worth a lot more than $350. from what i hear, they can't keep them on the shelf, as every girdle is pretty much spoken for right off the cnc machine.

i will agree that they arent needed...

however they are present on alot of honda engines for a reason. going with that logic look at the engines that have them... the d sereis engines have full main cap bridges because the motors are built alot weaker and the have a poorer rod/stroke ratio than the b18b/b20. the b20a engines have full main cap bridges cause they have a horrible 95mm stroke. these engines need them to maintain honda reliability (ie even main wear) even though engine geometry and block construction isnt optimum.

the b18c1/5 engines have them because they have less than perfect engine geometry and are revved really high but the engine is built pretty well so they get a girdle across the inner mains

however the b18b/b20 dont get a girdle because they are built well and have decent engine geometry for what they are tasked to do. (low redline)

b16a doesnt either because of its perfect r/s ratio and well built bottom end.

now in my OPINION they arent needed by any means but if you want to maintain the reliability of the engine it is a good idea to use one. the b18c has a better r/s ratio and a more solid bottom end but it still has a girdle even though it only revs 1k higher than the non vtec.

to put it simply people spend 350-700 on rods all the time so 300 on a girdle is a good investment. although personally i thin the stock gsr girdle is adequate this is for sure better. (if this design can hold a b20a together think what it can do for a b18c!)

JCushing: thankx for elavorating on your point, i won't get one my self until i dyno my car. right now i'm reving to 8200rpm, but if my dyno chart shows no drop of power by 8200 i'm going to get the girdle, and some arp rod bolts and take it back to the dyno! i have a b20z with stock internals, and plan to stay with the stock internals till they no longer produce more power. but until then, i will secure the bottom end as best as i can to keep a rod from flying through the block, or spinning a bearring, or getting some crankwalk!

A friend of mine bought one for his b20, and the gsr windage tray fits very tight. It's more than slighty bent over top of it. The gsr oil pan will not fit correctly. The edges on the oil pump side are too high, and the gsr oil pan that they suggested to use is too shallow. We had to beat the hell out of it (o/pan)just to fit, and it still leaks. He's not going to drive in his built motor with it leaking. I hope they straighten this problem out for him. Anyone else have this problem?

the only problem that i have is with Hybrid Garage. They BS soooo much. They keep on saying that they are backordered and they will have some on this day. When I call back on they day that they say they will have it, nobody answers, so I stop by their shop and the owner promises me one the next day, do you think I get it? I dont. He has been saying that he would put one aside for me months ago but every time i go to pick it up, he doesnt have it. so he says he will call me when he has one for me which will be a few days later, it has been like 3 weeks now. Then I try to talk to someone that works there and he says that they will have some this weekend. Do you think I will get a call saying there is one for me? or do you think that I will even get one? I doubt it. they never return any of their messages and they are really pissing me off
