Default fluctuating idle then dies ...problem when warm!!! HELP PLEASE!!!!

just installed a poormans type r and now having a weird idling issue.
it starts up fine and idles great till operating temp.
once warms up the idle surges then dies.
i took off the tps and no surges. i set the base idle and plugged it up, thought it was all good till i test drove it and it started to fluctuate again.

also i noticed the iacv is humming when i unplug it the humming stops. i been searching for days and nothing.

:LEASE DO NOT SAY IT'S THE FITV VALVE BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ONE. THANKS::

When you set the base idle, was that with the IACV unplugged (should have been), or the TPS unplugged (should not have been)? Your post isn't clear.

sorry... today i tried to set my base idle like the way helms says to. unplug iacv and let it idle (warm of course). before it could reach operating temp the rpm fluctuated and then died.started again then just did the same thing. for some reason when i unplug tps it'll idle fine, but it'll throw a code. then when it warmed up i tried to start it with the iacv unplugged. i started it and immediately died, i started it with my foot on the pedal and when i tried to idle it at 1000 it'll jump from 1000-1300. i had the idle screw back all the way out and still same results. hopefully this is much clearer thanks

any cel's, look for what codes you have and go from there. when the car is wharmed up put your thumb over the port on the tb and feel for vacuume if the idle drops you need to replace the iacv. when wharmed up the iacv shouldent be sucking in extra air. also unplug the iacv if the idle doesent drop there is a problem in the iacv.

no cel's. i know there is a hole in the tb and i didn't cover it completely but i know it sucks in air. i unplugged the iacv when warm and the engine just dies. i can't do a base idle either because when i have the iacv and start it it'll just die. when i start with little gas, the rpms goes up and down

i adjusted the idle screw under the tb and the idle other screw. car idles now. but small jumps. probably need to get the tps calibrated but don't know how. oh well still good.

The tps and ignition timing can also affect the idle. Check to make sure the tps is at .45 volts at fully closed throttle. Set ignition timing to 16*. Then let the engine warm up and set the idle to about 650 rpms with the IACV unplugged. Then shut the car down, plug in IACV and reset ECU. Start the car back up to let the ECU learn the newly adjusted settings.
