Flat Tire WTF!!!
I was a my girls house the other day and when I left I had a flat tire. There were no repair shops around that area so I used a bottle of fix a flat and drove to the nearest air pump. Filled the tire up and drove it home. The next day I checked the tire pressure and it was down to 10psi. I drove it to the nearest gas station at my house and filled it up to go to the repair shop. My question is..... If you get your tire fixed is it still ok to drive at high speeds? I just bought these tires a month ago and I sure as hell dont want to buy new ones. Any suggestions?
A local tire shop should be able to patch your tire for about $5. Then put that one on the rear of the car. Then order a new tire. The patch should only be used to get you by, no racing on it!
Anyone else got any suggestions?
1. You need to get the fix-a-flat out of your tires. It throws off the balance as well as eats the rubber from the instide out.
2. Take your tire to a place that repairs flats with a patch from the inside of the tire. No Tee handle plugs!!!! Expect separated belts if they use the layzie methods. Internal patches are the only way to go. I suggest Discount Tire because I'm familar with the ways they repair (internal patch) and it is free. Don't pay unless you have to.
3. Very important.......Tell the guy working on the tire (not only the guy at the counter) that you have fix-a-flat in it. I always hated opening a tire and having fix-a-flat juice splash into my shoes.
It is an unsaid curtousy (sp?). Plus...buy that guy a Pepsi or tip him a few bux.
4. Have them clean the inside of the wheel out and it is usually a good idea to replace the valve stem while you are at it.
5. Don't use fix-a-flat ever again
PS. don't even ask me about that green "tire slime" crap

Thanks SLPR!!! Thats the best freakin reply I ever got on HT. Nice and detailed!!! Thanks alot!!!! I only have one problem the guy already repaired the hole with the Tee handle plug. from the outside in! what am I going to do now? He didnt even take the tire off my car. I also called Mavis Tire Discount and they want to charge me $30.00 to fix the tire from the inside and also balance it. I'm really starting to get nervous and pissed off. Should I just buy a new tire?

Hmmmm New York, I didn't think about that. There are no DTC's in NY. I can't believe I might say this but an NTB (National Tire and Battery) probably has patch tire repair and there should be some in NY. Otherwise call around and flat out ask how they repair tires.
Don't worry a tire that has been Tee plugged usually be re-patched correctly. I've redone many in my time. Just make sure they clean out the tire good. Just remember that sidewall holes can never be repaired safely!

PS. Thanks I try to be as helpful as possible.
