Default Tire/Nail

All,

Got a flat from a nail in the tread of my rear left tire. I was dumb and i didn't realize there was a flat untill I was driving down the block and I heard the noise the tire was making <sigh> . Well, I checked the pressure and it was at like 5psi. I filled up the tire, and now I notice a small ripple (about a half and inch wide) on the side wall. It is not a crack just a ripple. The question:

Is it alright to just get the tire patched, or do I need to now replace two of the tires (so I have equal tread)?

Find out from a tire place if its safe to patch...well if it is obviously do that-save yourself $280 in the process. I would think that if its not an open crack you should be alright--but on the sidewall i dont know. Good luck.

I had an instance where I drove about 30 mins on a tire w/ low pressure and it created a bubble on the side wall. I couldn't reuse it and I don't recommend it. It is much more susceptible for a blow out and not safe...

do yourself a favor and get a new tire...better safe than sorry. don't want to hear you in two weeks if you wreck your almost irreplaceable R...heard enough horror stories lately about wrecked/stolen R's

good luck

I had a nail in my tire about 6 months ago...My friend patched it up for me and I was good for about 2 months....Then one day my tire blew on the 101 on my way home from work.......I would recommend just get new tires...I had avs intermed before and then I ended up getting pirelli p7000's....I like them =D

what everyone else said... the weird sidewall thing could be resulting damage from riding on it flat.

when in doubt, take it to a tire shop and get them to look at it asap.
