Default Fading Power

Hello there,
following thing bothers me since a few days and i wanted to ask you for an answer.

I've bought an Civic EJ9. That car has 50K km down and was driven by an old Lady. I replaced the seal on the intake and should have 90HP.

A friend of mine got an EJ2. His car ran 150K km and was driven by a wanabe-racer. He bought afterwards an Invidia Exhaust System and his stock power rating is 101Hp.

So the cars weight about the same and we did a few little races.
And everytime i dont have any problems to pull away from him.
Now my question is - why?

Obviously it could be, that his abused engine just lost power after the torture, but what exactly needs to be replaced in the engine after that?
How do you make an engine feel like its just off factory?

We are pretty sure, that my engines produces more HP, or at least about the same like his, although his engine is rated 11HP higher and has more torque.

I don't get how this is a technical question?
It sounds like your friend sucks at racing or maybe you BOTH suck at it but he just sucks at it more than you.

Have you tried swapping cars to see what happens?

The operative words here are, "was driven by a wanabe-racer", it would not be a surprise to me if your friends car is just beat to death, or as has been mentioned, he just sux at racing. 94
