Engine ticking...valves recently adjusted and it continues...help
For the past couple of weeks my valves have been clacking..bad. I got the valves adjusted, and the clacking sound is still there. Neither me nor my mechanic can figure out what it is. It is coming right from the fuel rail/valves on the drivers side..and it's like a tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick...If it isn't the valves, what would be the next thing to check?

I had the same problem, but it was my first time adjusting the valves and I didnt know what the hell I was doing, so my friend helped me and it went away, I had them too loose. If your mechanic knows what he's doing and it still dont work, then get a bottle of zmax, its like pouring a new engine in your car (according to the infomercial)
i had the same problem too. i adjusted my valves a thousand times(exagerating) and still didnt go away. I also poured some zmax in a couple of months ago and still didnt work.
Take a screw driver or a short peice of hose, place the flat end of the screw driver, or one end of the hose. On differt areas of the engine, while it's running. Place the other end against your ear and listen. This should help you track the noise down to where exactly comming from. Also, try pulling the plugs and see if there is any varations in color.
recheck your clearances, u must do the adjustment on a completely cold motor.
like leave it overnight and do it in the morning.

Distributor. Listen (using above screwdriver method or stethoscope) and look. If distributor is the problem, pinpointing it as the source may be difficult. There is an internet post regarding this somewhere out there (not on hondatech.com, that I know of). Do a search for "Honda distributor" and spend the hours searching for it or get a Honda mechanic (preferably non dealer as they see mostly newer cars) that has worked on Hondas for a living for more than five years (he/she will have seen this, most likely). As I recall from the article that I read it is wear of the gear and/or shaft. The article even tries to suggest that Honda distributors have a real problem with this. It is strange that failures are so rare (I have NEVER heard of a failure) and noise is rare at anything under 150K. With a Honda we perceive this as a problem. If it were a Dodge with that kind of a "problem" we would never learn of it (with exception of the Mitsu and VW engines). They never make it that far with the smoke getting out. Smoke is what powers everything on the planet. When the smoke gets out, things no longer work. I let the smoke out of my D16 a few weeks ago. Bummer! Now I have to buy that damn B16 and drop it in. Shhhhhh! My wife believes that. The smoke and the damn B16 thing.
